Still Life

Antiques Collectable's Memorabilia Patterns

Shows a selection of recent watercolour paintings.

In contrast to the more robust subject matter featured, still life painting gives the artist time for moments of quieter reflection.

Antiques and Collectable's around the studio often form the basis of a painting. A silver coffee pot an old Victorian Lace Iron, fabrics or materials with intricate patterns all serve to provide stimuli for a painting.

The Spanish plate with its colourful patterns was an appropriate background for the fruit. Antiques such as coffee cups and silver water pots reflecting the patterns of lace tablecloths or the patterns in the richly coloured Indian fabric, work well together .Memorabilia like the enamelled barge ware coffle pot with its colourful blue patterns serves as a focal point in the composition. Collectable's and various pieces of memorabilia often with patterns, are a constant source of inspiration for watercolour paintings. Whether it is a simple piece of rustic pottery or chestnuts with their spikypatterns, none are too humble for the basis of a painting.
